Lyophilization Workshops
A lyophilization workshop differs from that of the seminar in that there is no rigid format. The topics and content of the workshop is completely dictated by those attending the session. While those just entering the field of lyophilization will find the workshop to be enlightening and the sometimes heated debate between those attending to be entertaining at times, the workshop is really geared for those knowledgeable in the filed of lyophilization but need additional information on a particular topic to round-out their comprehension of the topic. Because of the latter statement, the workshop is best described as an interactive workshop. Since the content of each workshop will differ depending on the experience of those attending, it is not possible to prepare any notes for the session. However, if the workshop is conducted in a corporate environment, the video recording of the session can provide a permanent record of the session. Because of the large number of topic areas that can be covered during any one work shop session, the conducting of such a session has to be conducted by a monitor, such as Dr. Thomas A. Jennings . Dr. Jennings has the necessary educational background and broad experience in the science and technology of the lyophilization process and its associated instrumentation and freeze-drying equipment to conduct such a workshop. While there is no formal format to a workshop, Dr. Jennings will have ample overhead projection slides with him in order to provide information on a topic or a working model to serve as a base for the discussion. The basic topics that can be covered by the workshop are as follows: Historical Review of Lyophilization Definition of Lyophilization Lyophilized Formulations Thermal Analysis of Formulations Freezing Process Primary Drying Process Secondary Drying Process Drying Process Monitor (DPM) Lyophilized Product Properties Container-Closures System Freeze-Drying Equipment and Instrumentation Validation of Lyophilization Process Validation of Freeze-Dryer (IQ and OQ) If you wish to learn more as to how a one or two day workshop can be conducted in your facilities, then e-mail your request to jennings@phase-technolgies.com and please indicate your full name, title, affiliation and e-mail address.
