* * * INSIGHT * * * IQ of Freeze-Dryer - Part A ABSTRACT: This issue of INSIGHT will address some of the key topics concerning the IQ of a freeze-dyer. The term IQ is a bit ambiguous and is sometimes referred to as the Installation Qualification and other times the Inspection Qualification. But regardless of its terminology, the IQ serves to verify that the design and construction of the dryer and its associated instrumentation can provide the necessary environment and parameters for conducting a lyophilization process [1]. The main objective if this INSIGHT is to show the importance of a visual inspection of the equipment. Such an inspection can not only ensure the proper operation of the equipment but also provide protection of the facilities and the operating personnel. We shall call once again upon Armondo, the Novice and their associates, to bring out some key considerations when performing the IQ and also add their own personal touch to this INSIGHT. It should be understood that characters described here and in the previous INSIGHTs are purely fictional and do not refer to any person living or dead.
