Lyophilization Seminar
This seminar has evolved over the past 28 years, mainly through the efforts of Dr. Jennings, to provide an overview of the key issues involved in the process and the interrelationship between the process and the associated instrumentation and equipment. While those experienced in the field of lyophilization will find that the seminar enhances their understanding, those just entering the field will obtain the necessary general overview of the subject in order to avoid its many pitfalls. The scope of the topics covered are quite broad and varied, however, the contents for each topic are arranged to move from the simple to the complex. Even more important, the objectives for each topic are identified so that the path through the topic is clearly outlined. For some topics a theoretical introduction may be necessary but such an introduction is supported by practical examples. Each of the topics of the seminar are arranged in a building block fashion so that an understanding of one topic will provide the basis for the understanding of the following sections. The main objective of the seminar is not just to explain "why" but give the basis for understanding "how".
It was recognized from the very first seminar that the scope and content of the seminar is so broad and comprehensive that one would find it difficult to follow the lecture, take notes and join in any discussion. The latter was overcome by the preparation of a detailed set of Revised Notes 2006 which will include information on the Process Analytical Techniques (PAT) for the container-closure system. The notes are prepared in a text format so that one is given the basis to understand the lyophilization process after completion of the lecture.
In addition to the notes, each attendee to the seminar will receive a copy of Lyophilization Seminar Notes and the PowerPoint presentation used to conduct the seminar.
